Overview
This FREE webinar will offer attendees an overview of the fundamentals of developing cost and price proposals for government contracts, including RFP requirements, FAR Part 15 considerations, FAR 15.408-2, Table 15-1, cost estimating practices, proposal cost elements, Basis of Estimate development, DCAA proposal review considerations, and SF 1408 accounting system expectations. Attendees will gain a clearer understanding of how proposal data, cost narratives, estimating support, and accounting practices work together to support compliant proposal development with clear documentation. The session will help government contractors better understand common proposal requirements, documentation expectations, and accounting system considerations that can affect proposal adequacy, audit readiness, and consistency in bidding, collecting, and reporting costs.
Learning Objectives
At the completion of this one-hour webinar, participants will be able to:
- Recognize key cost and price proposal requirements tied to RFP instructions, FAR Part 15, FAR 15.408 Table 15-1, and supporting cost data expectations.
- Identify estimating practices that support current, accurate, and complete proposal data, documented assumptions, standardized templates, and internal review procedures.
- Describe the role of cost narratives and Basis of Estimate support in explaining proposed labor, indirect rates, materials, subcontract costs, travel, other direct costs, and profit or fee.
- Understand the importance of aligning proposal data with accounting practices, cost element structure, contract requirements, and the planned approach to performance.
- Identify common proposal risks that may lead to DCAA concerns, including inadequate support, unsupported judgment, unbalanced pricing, inconsistent subcontract data, and costs that do not align with the scope of work.
- Recognize accounting system considerations that affect proposal adequacy, audit readiness, and the contractor’s ability to bid, collect, and report costs consistently.
